Reading Takes 2-1 Lead in Round 2
|
The Reading Railbirds got a strong performance from pitcher Fernando Franco, who stymied the Philadelphia offense en route to a 6-0 win in Game 3 of the Round 2 today. The Cheesesteaks could never get a bead on the right-handed Franco, who threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The Railbirds now hold a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
With two out in the top of the seventh, Dave Rouse had a game-changing hit. The Railbirds center fielder slammed a 2-run single off Amado Ortíz, making the score 3-0, Reading.
"At least it was over quickly," Cheesesteaks manager Joey Santangelo said. "We'll just have to try our luck again."
Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday at Schuylkill Landing Park in Reading.
