Monuments Take 2-1 Lead with 8-2 Win
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of first baseman Gonzalo Gredillas, the Washington Monuments got a road win against the Honolulu High Tide, 8-2, in Game 3 of the Round 2. Gredillas was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Monuments, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
Washington used a well-timed hit by Howard Reeves to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Monuments ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Reeves called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday at The Grand Lodge in Washington.
