Cape Canaveral Tops Washington Again, 2-0
|
The Cape Canaveral Launch got a strong performance from pitcher Jon Gilmore, who stymied the Washington offense en route to a 2-0 win in Game 2 of the Round 3 today. The Monuments could never get a bead on the right-handed Gilmore, who threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The Launch now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when first baseman Nate English, who finished 4th in the AP in triples with 10 in 2066, hit a double. The Launch went on to win.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Cape Canaveral manager said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Grand Lodge in Washington.
