Almost There: Reading On Cusp of Round 4 Triumph After 7-1 Win
|
With starter Kenny Hecker leading the charge, the Reading Railbirds defeated the Michigan Militia, 7-1, in Game 4 of the Round 4. The left-hander threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball at Assembly Line Grounds to help Reading take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Reading used a well-timed hit by Graham McCoy to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Railbirds ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said McCoy.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Assembly Line Grounds in Detroit.
