Fans of the Michigan Militia who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Michigan win over the visiting Vermont Lake Monsters, 4-3. Riku Mainila started for the home team against Carlos Delgado. Carlos Delgado earned accolades for his performance. Mathew Rhodes, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 4 hits.

Michigan won the game in the bottom of the 17th inning. With one out and Pablo Román on the mound for Vermont, right fielder Tex Scott hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Militia fans to their feet.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Vermont manager Kevin Tucker.
