The Crab Apple Cove Mashers had to overcome a fine performance from Death Valley pitcher Fernando Hernández to grab a 3-2 win at Vargas Field. Hernández allowed 2 runs over 6.1 innings. Crab Apple Cove goes to 31-39, Death Valley to 42-27.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Pedro Cintrón was at the plate when Crab Apple Cove scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Mashers to go in front, 3-2.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Cintrón said after the game.
