When José Martínez jogged in from the bullpen this season, opposing teams knew they were going to have a tough time putting up runs.
The Honolulu High Tide closer turned in a dominant campaign and has been named the Appalachian Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2066.
His award-winning season saw the bullpen ace get 49 saves in 70 relief appearances, 120 strikeouts in 82.2 innings and only 50 walks. He had a record of 4 wins and 5 losses to go with his 1.42 ERA.
"I hope I can pitch like this every year," he said.
He received 20 first place votes out of a possible 28. Ted Duke of the Ozark Outlaws finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Luke Edwards of the Amarillo Chicken Haulers finished third with 2 first place votes.
