Mercer Torches High Tide for 5 Hits Friday, October 8th, 2060 The Atlantic City Aces stopped the Honolulu High Tide by a score of 7-1 at Champagne of Beers Field today, with the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Bill Mercer. The 29-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Mercer said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Mercer did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the High Tide. "Not much that I can say," offered Honolulu manager Daniel DiOrio. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Bill Mercer singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
