The San Jose Cuervo first baseman powered three into the stands at Liquor Luge today against the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Hawkins told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 4-for-5 as the Cuervo toppled Glacier Bay by a score of 13-9, knocking in 7 runs and scoring 4 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," San Jose manager Brandon Kirk said. "He gets the ball up in the air." Donald Hawkins hit a two-run home run off José Alba in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off José Alba in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Carl Lester in the 6th and singled in the 8th. |
