Mashers End Chávez's Streak Sunday, April 6th, 2059 The Laredo Border Jumpers lost to the Crab Apple Cove Mashers 6-3 today at Vargas Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Carlos Chávez's 28-game hitting streak. The second baseman went 0-for-5 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Chávez, we would win the game," Mashers manager Crab Apple GM explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." |
