Smashing Success: Quinn Wallops 3 HR
Sunday, June 25th , 2073
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Vermont Lake Monsters.
Washington catcher Tom Quinn tripled up on the home runs to propel the Monuments to a win, 8-1, at Welsh Field.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Vermont manager Kevin Tucker said. "Quinn hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Quinn collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Tom Quinn struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Ernest Reese in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Ernest Reese in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Alfredo Villanueva in the 9th.
Thus far this year, Quinn is hitting .216 with 13 home runs, 32 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
