Mexico City-Boston Fight Results in Suspensions Monday, May 31st , 2077 Yesterday at Jackie Robinson Place Mitch Spence and Júlio Vázquez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Mexico City Diablos and Boston Revolution. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Spence will have to sit out 4 while Vázquez would be given a 2-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. For the season, Spence has produced 54 hits in 179 at-bats for a .302 average with 10 home runs and gotten on base at a .370 clip. In 16 relief appearances this season, Vázquez has 1 save. He has 1 win and 5 losses, 6.98 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 19.1 innings. |
