Downey, Downey Swap Teams Sunday, April 10th, 2061 It took some time to iron out the details, but the Lake Monsters and Border Jumpers have agreed to a swap. Laredo will get 30-year-old minor league 2B Chet Downey and a 8th round draft pick with Vermont receiving a 4th round draft pick in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal. Downey has a career .273 batting average and .318 on-base percentage. He has recorded 100 hits with 24 doubles, 7 triples, 4 homers, 37 RBIs and scored 41 runs since coming into the league. |
