Mashers End Cruz's Streak Thursday, July 24th, 2059 The Crab Apple Cove Mashers got more than the 4-2 victory at Vargas Field today -- they also put an end to the 22-game hitting streak of Philadelphia Cheesesteaks third baseman Iván Cruz by holding him without a hit in 2 at-bats. After the game, Cruz seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." In his stats this season, Cruz has posted a batting average of .363 with 128 hits in 353 at-bats, 29 home runs and 72 RBIs. He has also scored 57 runs, walked 29 times and compiled a .413 OBP. |
