Border Jumpers End Owen's Streak Friday, August 15th, 2059 The Laredo Border Jumpers pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting Cal Owen hitless in 3 at-bats during the club's 3-2 victory over the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates at Liquor Luge. The disappointing performance ended a 31-game hitting streak for the catcher. "I'm a little down right now," Owen said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too." Looking at his season stats, Owen has compiled a .322 batting average and a .378 on-base percentage, while hitting 20 home runs and driving in 48 runs. |
