Whiteside Raps 3 HR Against Ravens Friday, May 27th, 2061 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Richmond Ravens today. Cape Canaveral first baseman Joe Whiteside tripled up on the home runs to propel the Launch to the 21-1 win at Launch Pad. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Richmond manager Scott Hortness said. "Whiteside hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Whiteside collected 3 hits in 6 at-bats, 8 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Joe Whiteside hit a three-run home run off Kenny Hecker in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Manuel Serna in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Julián Ortíz in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. During the current season Whiteside is batting at a .214 clip with 9 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has played in 50 games and scored 27 times. |
