Cheesesteaks End Oakes's Streak Saturday, September 1st, 2057 It was the best of both worlds for the Philadelphia Cheesesteaks today at Liquor Luge, as they defeated the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates 8-6 and also snapped Clement Oakes's 22-game hitting streak. The 25-year-old Glacier Bay center fielder failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Oakes, we just wanted to win the game," said Cheesesteaks skipper Andrew Powell. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Oakes frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." For the year Oakes has hit .334 with 4 home runs, 70 RBIs and scored 71 runs. |
