 | Appalachian Names Gonzáles Best Batter Monday, September 12th, 2050 A battle-tested Iván Gonzáles declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 33-year-old Minneapolis left fielder collected the Appalachian Player of the Week Award. He wrapped up the week with a .458 average, 11 hits in 24 at-bats, 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
