Bad News for Amarillo, Ngumi Injured Saturday, June 23rd, 2040 The Amarillo Chicken Haulers were dealt a severe blow when Eria Ngumi was hurt running the bases recently in a game against the Richmond Ravens. After the game, the team trainer reported Ngumi might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 34-year-old catcher out for the rest of the season with a ruptured achilles tendon. They indicated it would take Ngumi at least 4 months to heal. This season Ngumi is swinging the bat at a .229 pace. He has hit 5 home runs and scored 19 times, while driving in 23. His on-base percentage is .305 and he has played in 47 games. |
