Gutiérrez Suffers Major Injury, Career Over
Thursday, September 5th, 2058
The Boston Revolution clubhouse was subdued this afternoon after Roberto Gutiérrez was seriously injured throwing a pitch during the game against the San Jose Cuervo. Gutiérrez was taken to a local hospital for examination. This morning, doctors confirmed the preliminary diagnosis of a damaged elbow ligament. They said Gutiérrez will undergo surgery in the near future. This type of injury, they said, will require extensive rehabilitation. For all intents and purposes, his career in baseball is over. It remains to be seen how Gutiérrez's loss will affect the rest of the team. The Revolution owner, when reached for comment, said he planned to visit Gutiérrez later today. "It's a sad day for us," he said. "We've lost a class individual. I hope that we can keep him in our organization in some capacity. Roberto still has a lot to contribute to our baseball team."

Here are his stats for this season: Gutiérrez has chalked up no saves and fashioned a record of 0 wins and 6 losses with a 12.41 ERA. He has made 61 relief appearances, thrown 66 innings and struck out 35.
