Rumors have had him on the verge of retirement since late last week but were not confirmed until today. "I want to leave the game the way I came into it," said Baird. "I don't want to become an embarrassment to myself and the team." In 1004 career games Baird has hit .227 with 704 hits, 86 home runs, 366 RBIs and scored 356 runs. |
