League Issues 5-Game Suspensions for Brawl Friday, September 22nd , 2073 The action was hot and heavy at a recent Cape Canaveral-Atlantic City game at Trump Stadium in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Launch Miguel Morales and Atlantic City's César Pérez will each miss 5 games for their roles in the fight. "We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe." This year, Morales is batting .209 with 30 home runs. This season, Pérez has recorded no saves with a 2-4 record. He's made 38 relief appearances, tossed 69 innings while fanning 61 with a 4.70 ERA. |
