Hoover Wins AP Player of the Week Trophy Monday, September 26th , 2072 25-year-old Roger Hoover sent shock waves through Pioneers of the Diamond last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Appalachian Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Hoover made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .560 average, 14 hits in 25 at-bats, 2 home runs and 16 RBI. Where the Vermont Lake Monsters first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Hoover certainly made his mark last week. This year, Hoover is batting .304 with 59 hits and 4 home runs. He has scored 25 times and has batted in 37 runs. |
