Schneider Gets Award for Relief Work

Ed Schneider was dominant and cool under pressure this year, and his standout performance has earned the Ozark Outlaws closer recognition as the 2058 Appalachian Reliever of the Year Award.

"I was just doing my job, and my job is to get people out," said the 29-year-old out of Quebec, Canada.

The award winner made 66 relief appearances this year and had 49 saves. He fanned 77 batters in 64.1 innings, with 19 walks. He pitched to a record of 4 wins and 2 losses to go with his 1.96 ERA.

He received 25 first place votes out of a possible 28. Sergio Martínez of the Vermont Lake Monsters finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Curt Hodge of the Michigan Militia finished third.
