Hit Parade: Thompson Pops 5 Hits
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Cornell Thompson today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Jailbreakers Ballpark and paced the Jailbreakers to a 16-4 win over the Pittsburgh Werewolves.

After his dynamite batting performance, the Orlando reliever told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."

His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Cornell Thompson singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Roberto Rodríguez in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
