Nan Tags Soap Box Derby for 5 Hits Friday, April 25th , 2064 Fans at Ballpark of Stockton got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season. The East St. Louis Eagles outplayed the Summit County Soap Box Derby en route to a 15-10 win, but the standout was left fielder Masamichi Nan. Nan netted 5 hits in 5 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Soap Box Derby manager said in postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Masamichi Nan doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 7th. Nan is hitting .371 this year with no home runs, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has 23 hits in 62 at-bats, 8 walks and a .443 on-base percentage. Nan has played in 18 games. View Boxscore |
