5-Hit Blitz by Klein Wednesday, July 2nd , 2064 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Bill Klein, it came around today. The 23-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Lobsters Ballpark to pace the Bridgetown Buccaneers to a 8-7 victory over the Montreal Whiz. Montreal skipper told reporters in the press room that "Klein deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Klein hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Bill Klein singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI double in the 10th. Looking at his present stats, Klein has compiled a .236 batting average in 72 games with a .295 on-base percentage, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 33 runs. View Boxscore |
