Ridin' High: Humphrey Hits for Cycle
Sunday, June 26th , 2072
It is rare for players to collect a single, double, triple and home run in one game, so it's a special moment when it happens.
Jeremiah Humphrey savored such a moment, going 5-for-6 and hitting for the cycle against the Saint Paul Rovers. Unfortunately for Humphrey, that was all he could savor, as his Mont Vernon Gladiators lost the contest by a score of 17-16.
After the game, the right fielder was in no mood to talk about the hitting feat, calling it "pointless trivia."
"Nobody cares if I went 0-for-6 or 1-for-6 or 5-for-6," Humphrey said. "17-16. That's the only line anyone around here cares about today."
Jeremiah Humphrey tripled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Tom Brown in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
For the year, Humphrey is batting .400 with 1 home run.
