Washington Makes It 12 Straight with 7-5 Win
The Washington Monuments defeated the Reading Railbirds, 7-5. Doing his part was catcher Michael Cabrera, who belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Dave Garrett snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 11-3 on the season. Earning his 26th save for Washington was Brandon Holcomb.

Washington used a clutch hit from José Quiñones to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Monuments ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll enjoy this ride as long as it lasts," said Monuments manager Ed Malloy.

The Monuments, at 65-38, have now won 12 straight.
