Storm Prevail, 4-2, Over Washington

The home crowd had a good time watching the Washington Monuments and West Island Storm get after it.
The West Island Storm defeated the Washington Monuments, 4-2, in Appalachian action at Hot Box. West Island pitcher Tad Hughes had a standout performance. Hughes went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 9-7.
The Storm got a big at-bat from third baseman Sean Woodard. For the game, Woodard went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 25th double of the season gave West Island a 2-0 lead.
"It was just a matter of executing," said West Island manager .
West Island raised its record to 64-42 with the win.
