Lake Monsters Trip Monuments, 1-0
|
Hsu Kau never let Washington get something going. The Vermont left-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Lake Monsters to a 1-0 win. The winning pitcher was Kau, now 8-5. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. Vermont goes to 77-40. The win puts them 15½ games up in their division.
Juan Martínez, the 30-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Martínez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Vermont up, 1-0.
Afterward, Lake Monsters manager Kevin Tucker was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
