Bearers Take Down Railbirds, 5-4
|
Reading third baseman Harvey Gregg was sensational. He slugged 2 home runs. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. St. Paul beat the Railbirds, 5-4. Reliever Andy Lindsay picked up the win. His record improves to 6-8. Dax McKames, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2066 draft, took the loss. Erik Watson earned the save for St. Paul, his 17th.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Paul Cochran? The 23-year old left fielder Cochran stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put St. Paul up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Cochran said.
The Bearers sit in third place in the Frontier Northern with a record of 72-77.
