Martínez Batters Kannapolis Big Time
Raleigh shortstop António Martínez could do no wrong in today's 5-4 win over the Intimidators as he collected 5 hits.

"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Intimidators skipper said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."

Martínez agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.

"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."

António Martínez singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Yong Kim in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

This year Martínez has socked 56 hits in 178 at-bats for a .315 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .371 pace and his totals also include 15 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
