Red Barons Pitching Ravaged by Oliver
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Lancaster's 15-5 victory over the New England Red Barons , second baseman Paul Oliver told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the POTD Single A-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Ballpark of Jersey City with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Red Barons .
"His swing is getting there," said Lightning skipper , who spoke glowingly of Oliver after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Paul did that to perfection."
Paul Oliver hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and was hit by a pitch in the 9th.
In 20 games this season, Oliver has compiled a .306 batting average with 19 hits and 1 home run. He has also scored 8 times and knocked in 9 runs.
