5 Hits for Burn Shepherd Thursday, May 1st, 2059 The Death Valley Burn stopped the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates by a score of 18-5 at The Burn Yard today, with the lion's share of the credit going to center fielder Tim Shepherd. The 29-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Shepherd said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Shepherd did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Ice Pirates. "Not much that I can say," offered Glacier Bay manager Matt Lehrer. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Tim Shepherd hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and singled in the 8th.
