Banks Slaps 5 Hits
Monday, April 25th , 2072
Duluth second baseman Rick Banks went down swinging at Ballpark of Tulsa, knocking out 5 hits even as his Red Devils fell, 2-1.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Banks said after his 5-for-8 performance against the Rancho Cucamonga Cucarachas. "No offense meant to Rancho Cucamonga, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the second baseman's improvements, saying Banks spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Banks agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Rick Banks singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 10th, singled in the 12th, singled in the 14th and flied out in the 16th.
This year, Banks is batting .410 with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs. In 13 games he has scored 11 times.
