Elliott Batters Kannapolis Big Time Saturday, August 15th , 2071 Even as a kid, Mike Elliott said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ocelots Ballpark today, Elliott showed how well he learned that lesson. The 22-year-old shortstop had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Lancaster Lightning, helping his team knock off the Kannapolis Intimidators by a score of 13-0. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Mike Elliott singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. Thus far this year Elliott has hit .364 with 6 home runs and 55 RBIs.
