Tom Johnston was a calming influence out of the Rancho Cucamonga Cucarachas bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 23-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Atlantic League Reliever of the Year Award for 2070.

The Omaha, Nebraska native won the award with 5 saves in 31 relief appearances, 66 strikeouts in 58.1 innings and a record of 9-0 to go with his 1.70 ERA.

He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 28. Owen Bolden of the Lancaster Lightning finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Enrique Garza of the Rancho Cucamonga Cucarachas finished third with 6 first place votes.
