The Iowa Crop Circles welcomed the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates to an night game at The Cornfield.

The inspired effort of Glacier Bay shortstop Mario Amézaga was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-3, to the Iowa Crop Circles. Amézaga was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. Luis León, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Ted Morgan nailed down his 14th save.

Iowa designated hitter Larry MacIntosh contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Crop Circles ahead, 4-2.

MacIntosh said his team "played with determination."

Today's win puts Iowa at 35-38, while Glacier Bay falls to 38-35.
