Bearers Sneak Past Railbirds, 2-1
|
St. Paul Bearers starter John Fuller pitched well against the Reading Railbirds at Casket County Stadium, leading his team to a win, 2-1. Jermaine Bennett collected save number 2. The Railbirds drop to 4-4 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2077 season.
Had Baby Ruth not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Ruth hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Bearers.
"I was able to fill up the zone," said Fuller.
