Redstone Downed, 4-2, by Cuervo
|
San Jose pitcher Tom Wheeler did his part in helping his team defeat the Redstone Ridge Raptors, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The win went to John Wilson in relief, making him now 1-0. David Maddux took the loss for Redstone. San Jose is now 39-46, Redstone 44-40.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Júlio Rosas came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Redstone pitcher Tom Brown, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Jose on top, 3-2.
Redstone manager Marcus M said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
