Cheesesteaks Take Down Crop Circles, 3-2
|
William Penn Park was rocking after an exciting Cheesesteaks win.
The Philadelphia Cheesesteaks wiggled past the Iowa Crop Circles, 3-2, at William Penn Park. The win was highlighted by the performance of Philadelphia pitcher Tomás Quintero. The first-place Cheesesteaks, at 57-35, now lead their division by 3½ games.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when first baseman Kyle Boggs, who finished 5th in the FR in RBI with 99 in 2066, hit a 2-run double. The Cheesesteaks went on to win.
During his postgame press conference, Cheesesteaks manager Joey Santangelo told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
