Militia Lose to Maulers, 5-2

The Minneapolis Maulers topped the Michigan Militia, 5-2, in Appalachian action at MacLaren Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Minneapolis pitcher and Cacocum, Cuba, native Alfredo Careno. Careno got the win, improving to 9-6. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Careno allowed 2 runs. Greg Douglas recorded the save, making him 19 for 20.
José Hernández dealt the Militia a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with the bases loaded and Minneapolis leading 1-0, Hernández hit a 3-1 knuckle curve for a 2-run single.
"We'll try to build on that win," Hernández told the Minneapolis Daily News.
The Militia, at 46-53, have lost 4 straight games.
