Minneapolis starter Alfredo Careno had a strong outing against the Newark Falcons at MacLaren Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. With the win, Minneapolis upped its record to 55-47.

The Maulers got a big at-bat from first baseman Armando Sierra. For the game, Sierra was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 23rd double of the season gave Minneapolis a 3-1 lead.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Sierra told the Minneapolis Today.
