The West Island Storm topped the Washington Monuments, 5-4, in Appalachian action at Hot Box. The game was highlighted by the performance of West Island pitcher Phil Brown. Manuel Durán, 3-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. Juan Marino nailed down his 26th save.
Sean Woodard, who is tied for 7th in the AP in doubles with 25, contributed to the West Island win with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
