Matsumoto Helps Washington Cruise to 11-2 Win
|
The Washington Monuments beat the Newark Falcons by a score of 11-2. Washington center fielder Tetsuhiko Matsumoto deserved the lion's share of the credit. Matsumoto was 3 for 5 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Monuments. Ernesto Alary got credit for the win, improving to 6-11. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 8 innings. Newark, at 40-76, has lost 5 straight.
Milo Baker hit a 2-run double off Ramón Barrera in the bottom of the third, which put the Monuments in front, 4-2. In addition to the double, Baker had 2 singles and 1 walk, while going 3 for 4.
"It was a solid team effort," said Baker after the game.
