Mashers Turn Back Philadelphia, 5-3
|
Crab Apple Cove Mashers starter Francisco García was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Philadelphia Cheesesteaks, 5-3. García got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 2 hits and walked 3 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. José Martínez finished the game for Crab Apple Cove and earned his 5th save.
In the top of the ninth, Carl Anderson stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Cheesesteaks were trailing 5-3, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when José Martínez made a terrific pitch and Anderson lined out. Gone was the dream of a Philadelphia comeback.
