High Tide Come Up Short at Washington, 4-3
|
The Washington Monuments saddled the Honolulu High Tide with a loss at The Grand Lodge. The final score was 4-3. Kurt Barras was 3 for 4, including 2 singles and 1 home run. The Washington shortstop scored 2 runs and drove in 1. Picking up his 13th save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Walter Hughes. Washington improves to 66-54 with the win. They lead their division by 4 games.
Had Gonzalo Gredillas not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Gredillas hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Monuments.
