The Crab Apple Cove Mashers picked up a win at Vargas Field, knocking off the Iowa Crop Circles, 3-1. On the mound for Crab Apple Cove was right-hander Galal Ahmadzai, who played a pivotal role in the win. Omar Cardenas picked up the save, his 26th. The Mashers now have a record of 52-71.

Mark Shaffer went 1-1 with a double and 2 walks for Crab Apple Cove. The 30-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Félix Díaz. It was his 29th walk of the season.

"Every loss stings," said Iowa manager Andy Ward. "This one is no exception."
