Railbirds Use Late Surge to Win
Despite a great performance by San Jose center fielder Bill Duhon, the Reading Railbirds defeated the Cuervo by the score of 5-3 at Welsh Field. Duhon went 3-4 with 2 home runs. The win was credited to former first round draft pick Stan Webb in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Jeff Johns took the loss. The win for the Railbirds raised their record to 76-59.

Reading won the game in part because of Roberto Clemente. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Railbirds ahead, 5-3. For the game, Clemente had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"It feels good to get this one," Clemente told the Reading Citizen.
